Dr. Michael Cook is
the Director of Hospital Administration and Chief Financial Officer
for the Anoka Area Veterinary Associates, P.A. As Director of
Hospital Administration, Dr. Cook is in charge of practice
management and is responsible for directing the financial outcome of
the veterinary practice.
Dr. Cook, a 1968 graduate of Coon Rapids High School, has practiced
in the Anoka Area since 1975. Upon graduation from the University Of
Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine in 1975, he joined the
staff of the Anoka West Pet Hospital as the first employed
veterinarian. Dr. Cook became a partner in 1978 and continued to
work as a general practitioner at the Anoka West Pet Hospital, the
St. Francis Pet Clinic and the Andover Pet Clinic until 1991.
Burdened with allergies to animals, he retired from general practice
and focused his efforts as a general surgeon for the group practice.
Dr. Cook has also become a student of veterinary practice management
and has spent an extensive amount of time redefining the business of
veterinary medicine. He is Chief Executive Officer of Professional
Veterinary Management Services, Inc. a veterinary practice
management group that is committed to lowering the cost of
healthcare delivery to animals. Dr. Cook spent six years on the
board of governors and is a past president and Chief Manager for the
Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Service, PLLC. This organization
provides after-hours emergency care for pets throughout the
metropolitan region. He has also acted as an advisor and part time
instructor for a Practice Readiness course at the University Of
Minnesota College Of Veterinary Medicine.
